Seven Empire United Rochester Players Advance to NCAA College Cup


 
Empire United Rochester will be well represented in the 2009 NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup.  Seven of our athletes play on teams that are represented on this year’s brackets.  Be sure to visit NCAA.com for game schedules and results. The College Cup finals will be held December 4-6, 2009 at Texas A&M University.
 
University of Maryland
The Maryland roster features sophomore Ashley Grove.  As a forward, she has played in every game this season.  Ashley has 7 goals and 3 assists in 2009. Amy O’Sullivan, a sophomore midfielder has also had a great season for the Terps.  She recorded an assist in her first game of the season v. Army.

West Virginia University
Playing in her second season for the Mountaineers, Erica Henderson played in 20 games in 2009.  Her coach sights her hard-nosed mentality and excellent left foot as two of her competitive advantages.  Erica plays both forward and defense for West Virginia.
 
Colgate University
In her first year for the Red Raiders, Sarah Henderson has played in every game.  As a defender, she has recorded 1 goal and 2 assists.  Colgate won the Patriot League championship to earn their NCAA berth.

Duke University
Gretchen Miller is a junior defender for the Duke Blue Devils.  She has played 20 games this season and has recorded 2 assists. As a sophomore she scored the lone goal against second-ranked UCLA in the NCAA College Cup quarterfinals.
 
Central Michigan
Bethany Allport is in her first full year of play for Central Michigan. She played 22 games at both midfield and defense and had one goal in 2009.  Kristen Hubright of Webster also plays for the Chippewas.
