Open Registration for the 2012 Empire United Soccer Academy tryouts is now available on line.  Pre-registration is expected and preferred, but walk-ups will also be allowed.

Training sessions (for boys and girls U10 and younger) and tryouts (for boys and girls U11 and older) will begin Monday, July 25 , 2011 and conclude Sunday August 7, 2011.  These activities will be held at the following locations:

Expectations

Our hope is to enroll individual players who will come together to:

• Be successful in playing the game
• Support each other in participating and learning
• Represent themselves, their parents and the Club with positive attitudes and good sportsmanship

Registration

On line registration will be open on June 30, 2011. There is a registration fee of $25 and includes 4 sessions for each age group/gender and an Empire USA tryout shirt. Each player will register in the age group matching the player’s birth date in the USYSA age group matrix. Player movements within age groups will be evaluated by the EUSA Director and staff.

Ages U5 through U10

Boys and Girls ages U5 through U10 can register for participation in the academy for the upcoming season during the registration event and training sessions.  Most of these participants will be selected to teams for the upcoming year.  The four training sessions will give the player and parents an opportunity to meet with the Empire United Soccer Academy Staff and experience first-hand the quality training the player will receive during the 2010 Season.  The Academy Staff will be available after each session to answer any questions.

Younger age groups can use Fall training before rosters are finalized.  This promotes a fair evaluation for each player.  The team’s coaching staffs will use this time to evaluate what competition level is appropriate for each player.

• Under 10 - Game format is 7 vs.7, with 12 player maximum rosters

Ages U11 through U19

Boys and Girls ages U11 through U19 can register for tryouts in the academy for the upcoming season during the registration event.  Players should attend as many tryout sessions as possible to provide the coaching staff the opportunity to best evaluate the player’s ability.

• Under 11 & 12: Game format is 9 vs. 9, with 14 player maximum rosters
• Under 13, 14 & 15: Game format is 11 vs. 11, with 18 player maximum rosters
• Under 16-19: Gme format is 11 vs. 11, with 22 player maximum rosters

Selection Criteria

Selections are made based upon ability, age, attitude, commitment and potential with a focus on the four pillars of the game: mental, physical, technical and tactical. Player selections are made without regard to race, religion, creed, color, national or ethnic origin. New players have an equal opportunity for selection.

Tryout Timeline

• August 15, 2011:  Initial selection to determine players who will be rostered to a given age group.   All players will be notified via academy web site posting as to their status after tryouts are complete.   Players are invited to contact coaching staffs for feedback concerning tryout performance and evaluation.
• September 1, 2011:  Players that accept Academy positions will be required to make initial payments.   Players and parents are invited to attend the mid-September team kick-off meetings to discuss the upcoming program and sign registration documents.
• November 1, 2011:  Training and competition for individual age groups where appropriate. Indoor Session I (training for all age groups). End of Indoor Session I (team rosters finalized).

Program Costs

Membership for each player covers an 11 month calendar from September 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012.   Each team will have an individual per player budget that covers basic club registration and insurance, training fees and unique competition costs. The annual per player base costs for this year were approximately $900 for U10 players through $1600 for U17 players.
